Terms & Conditions
These terms apply when you order from Insane Laban. By placing an order you agree to them, so please read them first.
1. Who we are
Insane Laban is a trading name of Insane Laban Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 17305335, at 167 Thorpe Way, Cambridge, CB5 8UN.
2. Where we deliver
We deliver within Cambridge only. Your delivery address must have a Cambridge postcode, and we check this when you enter it at checkout. We cannot deliver outside this area.
Delivery charges are worked out from the distance between our kitchen and your address:
- Under 5 miles — free
- 5 to 10 miles — £1.49
- 10 miles or more — £1.99
Estimated delivery times are an estimate, not a guarantee. Weather, traffic and how busy the kitchen is can all affect them.
3. Placing an order
You need an account to order. When you place an order you are making an offer to buy, not completing a sale. The contract between us begins when we accept your order, which you will see in your account and receive by email.
We may decline an order. Reasons include an item selling out, being unable to reach your address, the store being closed, or a problem with payment. If we decline your order we will tell you why and you will not be charged. If you have already paid, we refund you in full.
We only take orders while the store is open. If the store closes while you are ordering, a short grace period may let you finish, after which ordering stops.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay, including any sauce add-ons and delivery.
You can pay online by card, or in cash on delivery. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
5. Cancelling your order
Our desserts are made fresh once your order is accepted, so the refund depends on when you cancel:
- Before our kitchen accepts your order — cancel for a full refund.
- After our kitchen accepts your order — you can still cancel, but we keep 50% of the order value because preparation has already started. We tell you this clearly before you confirm.
- Once your order is out for delivery — it can no longer be cancelled. Please contact us if something is wrong.
Cash orders are never charged, so cancelling one costs you nothing whatever the stage.
Any loyalty points you used are returned to your account whenever an order is cancelled or we cannot fulfil it, including when a cancellation charge applies.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Your bank usually takes 5 to 10 working days.
Because our food is made fresh to order and is perishable, the 14 day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not apply. This does not affect your legal rights if something arrives faulty, unsafe or not as described.
6. If something is wrong with your order
Please contact us as soon as you can, ideally the same day. If an order arrives damaged, incomplete or not as described, you are entitled to a repeat, a refund, or a partial refund depending on the problem. Photographs help us sort it out quickly.
7. Allergies and food information
Our desserts contain nuts, milk, gluten and other allergens. Allergen details are listed on each product page.
Everything is prepared in one kitchen where nuts, pistachio, dairy, gluten and other allergens are handled. We cannot guarantee that any item is free from traces of an allergen, even when it is not an ingredient.
If you have a serious allergy or intolerance, please contact us before ordering. If you are in any doubt, do not order.
8. Loyalty points and referrals
You earn 1 loyalty point for every £2 you spend, added once an order is completed. Points are worked out on what you actually pay, after any discount.
Points can be redeemed against rewards shown in your cart, where each reward has a minimum order value. Points are deducted when the order is placed and returned if the order is later cancelled or rejected.
If you refer somebody using your referral code, you earn 10 points the first time an order they place is completed. You earn nothing for a signup alone, and only once per person referred. Referring yourself or creating additional accounts to claim points is not allowed.
Points have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and are lost if you delete your account. We may change or withdraw the scheme, and we will give notice if we do.
9. Your account
Keep your login details to yourself and use accurate information, particularly your phone number and delivery address, since we need them to deliver your order.
You must be 16 or over to hold an account.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used fraudulently, to abuse the loyalty scheme, or in a way that is abusive towards our staff.
10. Our liability
We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Otherwise our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
Privacy Policy
This explains what we do with your personal information when you use Insane Laban. We are the data controller for that information.
1. What we collect
When you create an account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored as a secure hash, never as readable text. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier.
When you order: your phone number, delivery address and postcode, what you ordered, the amount paid and your payment method.
Automatically: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and basic technical information such as your IP address in our server logs.
We do not store your card number. Card details go directly to Stripe, and we only keep a payment reference so we can match up payments and issue refunds.
2. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To take and deliver your order — necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To verify your email and phone — our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and failed deliveries.
- To send order emails (accepted, rejected, cancelled) — necessary to perform our contract.
- To run the loyalty and referral scheme — necessary to perform our contract, and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
- To keep records of sales — a legal obligation under tax law.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked us to.
3. Who we share it with

- Verification codes — they expire after five minutes.
When you delete your account we remove your personal details, but order records are kept for the six year period above with your identifying details removed as far as the law allows.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct anything wrong, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent where we relied on it.

6. Security
Passwords are hashed, database queries use prepared statements, and login is protected by a one time code sent to your email that expires after five minutes. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe.
No system is completely secure, but if a breach affects your rights we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
